"Does it help, knowing you don't have to try very hard?" she asks with a grin as she gets into the car and stashes her bag on the seat beside her, tucking it against the door. "With them, I mean, I still have very high expectations. Lots of drinks and dinners and... what else do people do when they're courting someone?"

She uses that word on purpose -- courting -- because she thinks the formality of it will make Steve laugh and because it takes the pressure off her trying to work out what they are or aren't.

"Ooh, flowers?" she asks. "Plenty of flowers, too."
